The 5K run/walk is a fundraising event for Cancer League of Colorado, Inc., an all-volunteer organization dedicated to funding research in Colorado.

Event Description

The race will kick off at 9 am on Sunday, August 16th. There will be day-of-race in-person registration at Washington Park, but we prefer you register in advance. Packets with your race bib and t-shirt will be available for pick up in advance of race day. Where and when will be announced on the Race for Research website at www.race4research.com and by email newsletters sent out this summer. Packets may also be picked up the morning of the race.

The Race for Research was first organized and run in 1997 by the friends and family of Michele Plachy-Rubin, a young mother and kindergarten teacher who was diagnosed with brain cancer in 1996.

Michele walked the first race with her 1-year-old son but tragically lost her battle with cancer in 1998. Cancer League of Colorado has continued the race in her memory. Since 1997, the Race for Research has raised more than $1.6 million for cancer research.
