Discover Walks, Tech, History, and the Arts

 

Meet Us at the Boathouse!
On Wednesday, April 16, 9:30–10:30 a.m., our Discover Walks will resume! Learn fun facts about Shakespeare's life and all the words and phrases he invented that we still use today on this stroll led by Eugene Field Librarian, Gina. Check denlib.org/discover walks for weather cancellations.

The Wait Is Over: Tech Appointments& Drop-ins Are Here
Starting Monday, March 3, Eugene Field will be offering drop-in technology sessions and one-on-one technology appointments. The drop-in tech sessions are every Monday from 2–3 p.m.. The tech appointments will be every other Friday at 2 p.m., beginning March 7. Interested in scheduling a tech appointment? Call us at (720) 865–0240.

Live Well, Age Well: Music, History& Art
On Saturday, March 8, 11 a.m.–12 p.m., our quiet, cozy branch will be transformed into a jubilant celebration, with live Irish music with McGurn’s Wake and food provided by the District 6 office. The following month on Saturday, April 19, from 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m., we’ll be offering in-person Art  Journaling for Adults 50+.See denlib.org/art-journal for more information.

Are you a history buff, or old home enthusiast? Check out these upcoming presentations:

●       The World in Maps, rare hand-drawn maps, atlasses & more from our Special Collections and Archives, Thursday, April 10, 2–3p.m.

●       Home History Case Study, May 8 from 2–3p.m., Special Collections staff will return to show us the latest research on a family home that was formerly at 3510 Kalamath, all while showcasing resources to help you research your old home.

●       A History of Denver’s Streetcar Commercial Districts on South Pearl and South Gaylord, June 12 from 2–3 p.m. Historic Denver will share their latest research with us!

Just to give you a little preview: we’ll invite Groove Machine back May 17 to play live jazz and host a special Spring Book Buzz on May 3, the week before Mother’s Day! March 2025 Programs for Kids, Families & Older Adults

Here at the Eugene Field Branch, we’ve been in planning mode for the past few weeks and are excited to announce new, improved programming! Our story time lineups still feature songs, rhymes, movement and reading, but you’ll see new faces, arts activities, and dancing fun for all. Check our new 2025 story time schedule below. We’d love to see you!

○       Family Storytime , Tuesdays 10:30 a.m., with a craft

○       Baby Storytime, Wednesdays 10:30 a.m., with toy playtime

○       Toddler Storytime, Thursdays 10:30 a.m. - with song and dance

 

We are still offering our popular weekly afterschool programs, Arts & Crafts for Kids on Tuesdays at 3:30 p.m. and LEGO® Club on Wednesdays at 3:30pm, with a twist. Arts & Crafts for Kids will feature more process-based, child-led art activities, as well as artist-inspired crafts.

 

Arts & Crafts for Kids’ first craft of the year:

Let’s Pretend We’re Andy Warhol!

 

This drop-in arts learning program, intended for children ages 2-7 and their caregivers, creates a space for bonding and community for families. LEGO® Club in 2025 features a little bit of a make over as well. Attendees are offered the option to display their creations in the stacks of juvenile fiction! Both programs are intentionally scheduled at a convenient time immediately after the school day, so if you haven’t had a chance to stop by, please do!

Looking for things to do with families and tweens?

We are still featuring our monthly programs for older kids and families, Family Yoga, Dance Party, and Tween Hangout. Tween Hangout, held the 2nd Monday of the month, from 4-5 p.m., is a place for tweens to be tweens. Intended for ages 8-13 with or without a caregiver, tweens can enjoy structured activities like friendship bracelets, DIY mazes, paint pouring, or games they can play on their own, as well as snacks, all in a low-key environment ideal for de-stressing from a busy school day.

We’ve also added biweekly drop-in tech help and appointments 4 times a month, starting in March.

○       50+ Tech: Ridesharing Services : Thursday, March 27, 2-3pm. Are you curious about ride sharing services like Lyft and Uber but are wondering how to get started? Check out this must-see program!

○       Drop-In Tech Help begins in March! If you have questions about navigating the web, social networks, your phone or tablet, eBooks, and more, drop by every Monday 2-3 p.m.to get help and learn how to use tech more effectively.

○       Tech Help Appointments also begin in March! Get personalized technology assistance and instruction on your own device or a public computer.
